In the past few months, the pandemic had dealt a huge blow to the movie theater industry. However, according to Randy Wooten, many movie theater owners have strived to bring the best viewing experience to their patrons, even with the lack of feature film releases. Some cinemas all over the U.S. showed modern classics from the ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s to allow fans of the decades some semblance of normalcy during these trying times.

One of the most notable films re-released in theaters was “The Silence of the Lambs.” Based on the book by Thomas Harris, the film launched a movie franchise on its own and has stood the test of time as one of the best book-to-movie adaptations and one of the greatest detective thrillers ever produced.

Directed by Jonathan Demme, with Anthony Hopkins and Jodie

Foster in the lead roles, “The Silence of the Lambs” took critics by storm. The heavy, dank atmosphere, combined with two of the year’s greatest performances, created a legendary feature, which stands the test of time.

Over the years, dozens of crime thrillers have been released, including the sequel to “The Silence of the Lambs” — “Hannibal,” and two prequels — “Red Dragon” and “Hannibal Rising.” All of these have been compared to Jonathan Demme’s masterpiece, and most if not all, quite unfavorably, Randy Wooten adds.
