It’s no secret that the COVID-19 pandemic has, over the past few months, crippled industries. And one of the hardest-hit businesses was the movie theater. With safety and social distancing protocols being implemented almost everywhere, movie theater owners have cut their capacity by more than half.

However, according to Randy Wooten, while the movie theater industry is struggling, they are by no means dead in the water. There are several things keeping theaters alive nowadays, and probably the most fascinating of these are classic movies. And by classic, Randy Wooten means modern classics, such as hits from the ’70s, ’80s, and ‘90s.

Over the past few months, with studios delaying the release of most major titles for 2020, theaters that have reopened have opted to feature films that have been shown in decades past, films such as “The Goonies,” “Jaws,” “ET: The Extraterrestrial,” “Jurassic Park,” and more. Fans of these decades and younger moviegoers can now experience watching all the greatest hits from these eras on the big screen once more.

Combine this with the resurgence of drive-in movie theaters, and Randy Wooten believes that movie theaters will make it out of the pandemic intact.
